New Members

At Honiton Community Theatre Company we always welcome new members and as a friendly group we get between 5 and 10 a year. Often they are friends or relatives of current or past society members and the family feel of the society is strengthened by the bonds made during performances.

Our Beliefs

Our professional attitude to amateur theatre means that as well as joining to have fun and make friends, you can be part of a great show. Our directors sometimes have lots of experience in putting on productions but we love to support new directing talent and have performed one of our own scripts in the past so if writing or directing is more up your street then this is the perfect opportunity to get involved.

How can you get stuck in?

There are many roles to be involved with in our society and all of them make up equal parts of the jigsaw of putting together a production. We pride ourselves in making or sourcing as much as we can of our set and costumes from scratch meaning that we spend many hours putting in hard graft to bring a great end product to the stage.

Some of the roles within our group are:

  • Director
  • Choreographer
  • Script writer
  • Committee member
  • Principal part
  • Featured part
  • Chorus part
  • Dancer
  • Tea, coffee and refreshments
  • Stage manager
  • Stage hands
  • Sound technician
  • Lighting technician
  • Set designer
  • Set painter
  • Set builder
  • Secretary
  • Front of House
  • Chaperone
